The app acts to as a single place on your iOS device to store debit cards and special payments coupons and store loyalty cards, making mobile payments that much easier. Renaming the app to Wallet could help make it more prominent versus the slightly more vague Passbook moniker (which, for some, has led to the app languishing in a separate folder for unused apps).
